Lovina Beach: Swim and Snorkel

Bali, the island of love, is a major tourist spot today. It has everything a visitor would love- beautiful beaches, lush green forests, ancient monuments, places of worship, shops, and international airports. In the past decade, Bali tourism has undergone radical changes to facilitate tourism here. More and more air companies have started operating between Bali cities and other parts of the world. Naturally, the hotel industry in Bali is huge. From Oberoi to Villas, Bali has some of the finest accommodations for travelers. Backpackers also love Bali for its wild side- dense jungles, steep cliffs, and caves. Divers never miss chance to polish their skills in the Indian Ocean. Over the years, the Lovina Beach (sometimes also known as Lovina) has gained immense popularity. This 9 km long beach is located near Singaraja in north Bali. Singaraja was once the capital of the British rule in Bali. Lovina is not a single beach; it has a stretch of beaches that form a part of the coastal villages Kalibukbuk, Kaliasem, Tukadmungga, Anturan and Pemaron among others.

A strange thing about these beaches is that they have dark grayish sand. This is because these areas were once home to active volcanoes. Families love visiting these beaches as some parts of these beaches are reserved for children. Here, kids can swim and snorkel without fear. The Lovina Beach is a part of Buleleng district of Bali. Unlike Kuta, Lovina is a peaceful place with a touch of rural life. Lovina is untouched by traffic, and commercial atmosphere. As a result, costs here are less. Hotels are more affordable. Restaurants are inexpensive. Lovina is almost 100 kms from the Bali International Airport. On your way to this part of Bali, you would come across acres and acres of rice paddies, and coconut plantations. Bedugul, a place en route to Lovina, is a hub of fruits and vegetables. The fresh water lake of Beratan is also an interesting sight on the way. The twin lakes of Buyan and Tambligan attract a sizable tourist population. Once you reach Singaraja, you would see the ocean parallel to you. The scene is like this- road, rice paddies and the vast Indian Ocean, all parallel. On the other side, you will see coconut groves and huge mountains.

Lovina is an agriculture driven region. Here, you will find local people involved in agriculture and fishing. The Indian Ocean provides Lovina with the right climate and irrigation facilities to grow paddy and coconut. People also grow coffee, tobacco, vegetables, fruits and spices here. Lovina has no commercial malls. The flavor of Lovina is however reflected in the small supermarkets that sell basic items. Hotels in Lovina Beach area serve national as well as international cuisine. If you still want to do some shopping, you can head to the nearby town of Singaraja. Here, there are some large malls that cater to the taste of tourists from across the world. You can visit Lovina beach in August. During this month, the climate of Lovina is excellent.
